So disappointed

I had spent the last two days telling myself I hadn't won Making Memories Idol, to prepare myself for the call, but to still hear it is so very disappointing.

I want to thank everyone who has done so much to encourage and support me and vote for me too. You have all kept me going. I truly wish I could have won for UK scrapping.

I have created some projects that I would never have done without the competition (the door on the wall!) and probably never will again (the paper weave bag aaagh!) and I have really enjoyed the focus that working on the challenges gave me.

Many congrats to the winner Joey and commiserations to the other runner up Mou. In fact to all the other contestants throughout, there have been many, many stunning and inspiring projects.

My project this final round was the magnet board. I had focussed on the 'innovative use of Making Memories product' that we were asked to do in the brief. I used empty stamp storage tins to create mini brag books to record different aspects of baby's life - a welcome to the word (birth story), our wishes for you (letters from the parents) and firsts (including favourites - this is the word I ummed and aaghed over but in the end decided to keep my nationality a secret - such an English attitude!).

All the elements on the board, the name, the books and the pictures in the frame, are attached using magnets. This would allow for the tins to be taken out and about as brag books, or replaced with newer information and facts and pictures to allow the board to reflect the growth of the child over however many years.

Ahh I'm so sorry you didn't win Suzanne. I was convinced too that you'd get it. But you did really really well. And now American scrappers will know your name & the fact that UK scrappers are on a par to them.
Big congratulations to getting so far.
In my eyes you're the winner!!

You have nothing to be sad about, you set yourself up there with the cream by coming in the final three. Think on that and how far you have come in this competition. You are GOOD, darn GOOD, and you have proved that time and time again over the last few weeks. There can only be one winner, but there are three stars and one of them is YOU.

Oh, Suzanne, don't be sad. You, after all, made it to the Top 30, while I didn't even survive the 1st round... I loved your magnet board, but it took a while till I had figured out, that it was a magnetic board. I think, if you had been allowed to expain on the votin site, the outcome may very well have been completely different. But still- You have every reason to be very proud of what you have achieved! You are the pride of us European scrappers!

To get in to the top 3 is amazing, I'm so sorry you never won, I personally thought your entry was by far the best, but then I'm biased and love all that you do. Well done to you, what an amazing achievement to end up in the top 3 out of hundreds and thousands of entries. Yahoo. to you.

I'm glad you are open about being disappointed rather than keeping a stiff upper lip! You deserved to win just as much as Joey. To do work of this calibre under such pressure is just amazing. So have a down day today by all means but tomorrow just be proud of all you have achieved. And I'm sure it won't go unnoticed!

I know you are disappointed Suzanne, but in a few days you'll realise just how far you did get, and what a fab achievement that was. Don't be disheartend, stand up tall, chin up, and be damn proud of yourself, 'cos we all are, and you certainly deserved to be in that top three.

I think you should give yourself a massive pat on the back. Your work is outstanding and you have proved yourself again and again.

Personally I was torn between the winner and your design. Number 2 did nothing for me at all. I had no idea which was which but I ended up voting for yours and the deciding factor was the little paper nappy on the teddy. It was so cute and an original use of products.

Well done Suzanne. You truly are the best of british and you have just proved it.

Your work was so amazing through the competition I'm surprised you didn't get it. But top 3 is a huge achievement and I think even more so as you are a brit, just because the industry is slower here than the States. xxx
